esp@cenet®

esp@cenet® represents the latest stage in the EPO's ongoing efforts to improve the availability of its data to the public. It contains all the patent documentation available to EPO examiners and the latest patent applications from all the EPO member states.

In Februar 2005, esp@cenet® held data on 50 million patents from 71 countries. A total of 25.6 million of these patents have a title, 26.2 million have an ECLA class and 16.6 million an abstract in English.

esp@cenet® is aimed at patent information end-users. For a more comprehensive search, users are advised to seek professional assistance from a PATLIB centre and/or a commercial provider, who provide patent information services as part of their business. Their services are often based on data from the EPO and other patent offices. Using a commercial service will often save time and produce more accurate results than searching in esp@cenet®.
