Coverage of the GB database
The data that is available on this esp@cenet server covers all GB applications published by the Intellectual Property Office under the Patents Act 1977.
In addition, this esp@cenet server covers GB patents granted by the Intellectual Property Office since June 2002. Please note that newly granted patents will be added each week, but we do not plan to extend coverage any further back than June 2002.
The GB database is one of a number of databases available through esp@cenet. The Worldwide esp@cenet database has the widest coverage with publications from 63 countries and contains GB publications from 1900 onwards. The Quick search forms link by default to the Worldwide database, so if you wish to search the GB esp@cenet database you will need to select it from the drop down list of databases on the search page.
If you require copies of GB applications published and GB patents granted which are not available within the Esp@cenet database coverage, these can be purchased in hard copy from our sales department.

Link to Patent Status Enquiry Database
On the bottom of the GB esp@cenet bibliographic data page you will find a button labelled Patent Status Enquiry. This will take you to the current register which will show you the current status, ownership details etc. A button on that page labelled ESP@CENET will return you to esp@cenet.
